Burrum Heads is a little town of a few thousand people just 30 minutes drive north of Hervey Bay in Queensland and it really is one of the best kept secrets when it comes to holiday destinations.
Burrum Heads is only 30 minutes from Hervey Bay so you’re close to plenty of fun things to do with the family but you’re far enough away from that tourist hot spot to be able to enjoy a very quiet and relaxing holiday if that’s what you’re looking for.
There’s plenty of budget accommodation in Burrum Heads but that doesn’t mean that the standard of the accommodation is less than what you would find elsewhere. Much of the accommodation is in individual holiday homes that you can rent by the week or longer and all the rentals are handled by the real estate agents in town. You’ll find that those houses are neat, modern, have all the amenities that you will need and most of them are within sight of the beach.
Once you get to Burrum Heads you will find that there’s plenty to do and see. The town is located right at the mouth of the Burrum River and that means that the fishing is going to be outstanding. There are local fishing charters that will take you out into the bay, you can hire a boat and go fishing in the river or you can head for the beach and fish from there.
The waters of the bay are very sheltered the whole family can go swimming or just laze around on the beach and enjoy the sun.
