Ben Barnes of Austin, Texas made history many times over. During his early 20s, while enrolled at the University of Texas, he won a seat at the Texas House of Representatives. At 26 years old, he earned the respect of veteran Texas legislators who made him the youngest Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. Four years later, at the age of 30, Texas poured support for his candidacy and made him the youngest Lt. Governor in state history.
Ben Barnes’ political term is remembered as having contributed the most significant reforms in education. Moreover, he raised workers’ wages, created minimum wage requirements for farmers and tripled spending in higher education.
