New Apple Mini Server Is Not a Big Deal

These days, small is big when it comes to technology. This explains why Apple has just announced that it is to roll out a server version of the Apple mini. It seems that Apple is thinking that if consumers are looking for smaller desktops and laptops, there’s no reason why they wouldn’t appreciate home or office networks that are running on miniature servers. The new server will come with the Apple OS X Snow Leopard server and will allow users to connect Mac and Windows computers in home or office environments. This will make ordinary server solutions more accessible. The mini will cater to small businesses that are looking to improve their computing infrastructure. However, it may find itself lost in the limbo of useless technologies.OS X Snow Leopard offers more features for quicker and easier networking along with the ability to host services that are essential to ordinary enterprises. The mini server will also be easily set up and designed to run a web host or host an intranet site. It will also allow users to run email server applications that provide in-house email communications while at the same time behaving as a file server for central storage. The new Apple min will come with a dual core processor and memory that is available in its non-server variation. Instead of an optical drive, however, it will have two preconfigured hard drives with 500 GB capacity each. However, there are still a number of concerns as far as mini servers are concerned. They may be out of place in the world of servers. The good thing about the mini is that it’s easy to configure and it’s small. But for small businesses, the existence of this mini server is really unnecessary. As a whole, it could be a good thing for businesses with moderate computing needs. But for the rest of the world, we are better off with a bigger server like dedicated linux servers.
